Privacy at a glance
We don't collect, store, sell, or share any personal information. There are no accounts, no ads, and no third-party analytics or tracking. Everything you do in the App is saved locally on your device.
This Privacy Policy explains how Curioak LLC (“Curioak,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with our mobile and desktop learning application (the “App”) and the website at curioak.com (the “Site”). By using the App or Site, you agree to this policy.
1. Who this applies to
This policy applies to everyone who uses the App or visits our Site. The App is designed to be set up and managed by a parent or guardian, and purchasing and account settings are intended for adults.
2. Information we collect
We do not collect personal information. The App does not ask for and does not collect names, email addresses, birthdates, photos, contacts, school information, precise location, or any other information that identifies you.
The App works fully offline for its core learning activities and does not require you to create an account or sign in.
When you visit our Site, our hosting provider may process standard technical information (such as your IP address and browser type) solely to serve the pages and keep the Site secure. We do not use this information to identify you and we do not build advertising or tracking profiles.
3. Data stored on your device
The App saves your progress — such as which puzzles were completed and skill progress — locally on your device. This information never leaves the device and is not transmitted to Curioak or anyone else. If the device backs up to Apple's iCloud, that backup is controlled by Apple under Apple's terms and privacy policy, not by us.
You can clear this data at any time by resetting progress in the App's settings or by deleting the App (see Your choices & rights).
4. A note for families
The App is a parent-facing Education app, bought and managed by an adult. It is not part of Apple's Kids Category.
Because we collect no personal information from anyone, families can use the App with confidence. The App has:
- No advertising and no in-app marketing;
- No behavioral tracking, profiling, or third-party analytics;
- No social features, chat, or user-generated content sharing;
- No collection of names, birthdates, school details, contacts, or precise location.
These practices are consistent with the principles of the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Purchases and settings sit behind Apple's parental controls and are intended for a parent or guardian.
5. Purchases & subscriptions
The App offers optional in-app purchases and subscriptions that are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store using Apple's StoreKit. We never receive or store your payment card number or billing details. Apple handles the transaction and shares only limited, non-identifying information with us (for example, confirmation that a purchase or subscription is active) so the App can unlock the right content.
Your purchase and payment information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings.
6. Third parties & tracking
The App does not include third-party advertising networks, marketing SDKs, or analytics services, and it does not track you across other apps or websites. The only third party involved in the App is Apple, which provides the App Store, in-app purchase processing, and (optionally) iCloud device backup — each governed by Apple's own terms and privacy policy.
7. Data security
Because the App keeps your activity on your device and transmits no personal data to us, the main protection for that data is your device's own security. We recommend using a device passcode and keeping your operating system up to date. Our Site is served over encrypted HTTPS connections.
8. Your choices & rights
You are always in control of the information on your device:
- Reset progress: open the App → parent Settings → Reset progress.
- Delete everything: remove the App from your device to permanently erase all locally stored data.
Since we do not collect or store personal data about you, there is no personal data for us to access, correct, export, or delete on our servers. If you have questions about your rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA, contact us and we'll help.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, provide a more prominent notice. Continued use of the App or Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
